My name is Yvonne Folck, and I am the original Wild Woman. Since 2003, I have been developing the largest network of women who play outdoors by providing a fun, safe place to get started. My Wild Women Unite weekends are designed for the beginner, but will also provide ample opportunity for a more advanced Wild Woman. You can leave all the planning and worrying to us as you embark on a journey that will forever make you a Wild Woman.
As a child, I always fished with my mother, but as I got older, I believed what the boy's said.. "girls don't fish". I quit fishing and gave up something I liked. NOT ANYMORE! At age 58, I am fishing, hiking, biking and more. I have completed two half marathons and lived six years in a very remote community in Alaska, where I operated a fishing lodge. And to this day, I hold the lodge record for the largest king salmon caught. Yes, I am a Wild Woman.
There’s nothing quite like the outdoors. With your boots tied tight, a backpack thermos in tow and a fleece to keep you warm, you’ve got nowhere to go but up. And that’s just where you’re going at Wild Women Unite. Becoming a Wild Woman is easy and will make you understand the power that you hold within yourself. Just try it.
Won't you join us for 2 days of fun, friendship and laughter while learning about, and trying, something new? Take the challenge and come play outdoors. You will be among friends, neighbors and people you have always wanted to meet.
Hi my name is Suzanne Perry and I am taking Yvonne's place for Wild Women Unite in the Buffalo/Niagara region. Yvonne has relocated to Florida and will be coordinating Wild Women Unite Florida so stay tuned!
I am very excited to build on the solid framework Yvonne worked so hard to develop and intend on adding additional events across the region. A portion of every Registration for every Wild Women Unite Buffalo event, is donated to Love Shouldnt Hurt.TV, a 501(c)3 that I founded last year. As a former victim of domestic violence, it is important for me today to share my experiences and be a ray of light to those who may be in the fog, in the darkness of an abusive relationship. Domestic violence impacts 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men, numbers too great to ignore. I am honored to carry on Yvonne's vision and mission to provide tools to empower women to try new adventures and break any old stigmas about what a woman can or can't do!
All workshops are space limited, so register early. Registration includes: 4 workshops, breakfast (Saturday), bag lunch and dinner Saturday. Each workshop lasts 2 hours and is beginner level. You will learn basic knowledge, safety procedures and have a hands-on opportunity to try the equipment. You will be scheduled to your requested 1st choices as space is available. Please, list a 5th workshop to be a fall back option, if your other choices are full.
